Bears in the Bearpark Bern

The Bearpark Bern and the Bärengraben are currently shared by the bears Finn, Ursina and Björk. Three bears have been living together since 2013, before that there were four of them. The bear Björk gave birth to the bears Ursina and Berna in 2009, unfortunately the bear Berna had to leave the Bärgraben in 2013 after several conflicts with her mother Björk. Now Berna lives at Dobrich Zoo in Bulgaria.

Crest

In the history of the city of Bern a bear has always had a part. So the bear park has existed for several centuries. The bear is also the heraldic animal of the city and the canton of Bern.

Bear pit

The two circular bear pits are used differently nowadays. The Great Ditch is still a part of the bear enclosure. Small moat was opened to the public and is no longer used by the bears. Most of the time, the bears stay in the large outdoor enclosure on the Aare.
