Easter in Grindelwald

Ostern in Grindelwald 2020

Easter in Grindelwald

Bright blue sky, felt 20 degrees in the shade and a clear view of the beautiful mountains. These Easter in Grindelwald are beautiful and almost better than a holiday by the sea. Just in time for Easter the daffodils are beaming everywhere, mostly in the middle of the lush green meadows or gardens. Besides the beautiful nature, the birds whistle everywhere and it smells of spring and fresh mountain air. There is hardly anything better!

Due to the Corona crisis, this year’s Easter in Grindelwald is also more quiet and very special. In the village of Grindelwald many shops are closed and in the process of rebuilding. Moreover, there are not so many guests at the moment, which means that this year you have the hiking trails almost to yourself. It is a pity, of course, that the many cable cars are closed and one would have had the last chance to ski on the Easter weekend. But we very much hope that the normal “everyday life” will return as soon as possible.

Now during Easter, of course, something must not be missing that will color Easter eggs. Marianne started early and as every year, she included various herbs from her own garden.

Tip

Here is an instruction how Marianne normally colours the Easter eggs very simply:

Pack the eggs together with the herbs in a stocking and put them in hot water with vinegar and a broth of browning wood for about 8 minutes. Take about 2 spoons of vinegar for the shine.Take about 2 spoons with vinegar. Then take the boiled eggs out of the hot water with a big soup spoon and let them cool down.

When the eggs are cooled down, remove the stocking and the herbs. Afterwards the eggs should have a white “tattoo” with the sign of the herbs.
