Wengernalp

Wengernalp

The Wengernalp, a small alp at 1874 m altitude between Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg. Famous for the annual Lauberhorn race and its unique location.

Location

The Wengernalp can be reached by Wengernalp Railway or on foot. Situated between the village of Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg, it is an ideal hiking destination. Or of course for a short stop if you are walking directly from Wengen to Grindelwald. The alp is situated in the middle of nature, there is a hotel, a restaurant and of course also a railway station, which during normal operation is served every half hour. What we can recommend to you if you have planned a hike to the alp, inform yourself about the paths. If you are staying with us at Chalet Anemone, we will be happy to advise you personally on site. The paths in the region are sometimes very demanding and their length should not be underestimated. Always adjust the hiking route according to your condition and your equipment, thus avoiding possible risks.

Hotel & Restaurant

On the Wengernalp there is the Hotel Jungfrau and the Restaurant Jungfrau. Both were rebuilt after a fire in 1865 and have been kept in the same style since then. The Hotel Jungfrau is not a big hotel, but the price – performance is definitely right. Accordingly, the demand is quite high, especially in winter, various ski clubs are rented for the whole season. The Restaurant Jungfrau is a good restaurant with Swiss cuisine and is a member of the Guide Michelin. The best way to convince yourself of the products is to go for a walk or a sleigh ride in winter, we can only recommend it.

View:

From the Wengernalp you have a wonderful view of the triumvirate Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. In addition, if you walk in the direction of Wengen, you can see Interlaken when the weather is fine. And of course you can also look at various passages from the Lauberhorn race like the Hundschopf. Don’t miss that!
