It is already time again, the last flowers are cleared away and wintered in.
Marianne has put the last flowers with pots in the workshop this week. Like every year we expect the first snowfall in November. At the moment nature is still beautiful green, but it changes from day to day. The meadows are still green, the trees are slowly changing colour and the flowers are slowly fading. How the seasons let the nature develop you can see very well e.g. at the maple. You can see very well autumn 2019 is slowly coming to an end and winter is coming soon.
Also Balu “Bäuzli” slowly retreats more and more and spends more time in his basket or in bed than before. Of course he still catches mice and other things he can catch when the weather is fine. But all these are already first signs of an early onset of winter.
The winter season starts at the beginning of December.

Regarding wintering and clearing flowers. Many tourists in Grindelwald ask themselves during a stay in Grindelwald in summer why there are so many flowers on the houses. This is due to the fact that this is an old tradition, but in the past other flowers were hung than today. In former times it was old alpine flowers that were taken by the Alps and hung up, as the Namen says.
At that time, however, they also had the right house for the houses with shingle roofs, for example, or the houses weren’t as modern as they used to be. Today, however, geraniums are mostly used for the house decoration, so also with us. Unfortunately they are bought every year, but we use them again as organic compost for the other flowers.
By the way, the Chalet Anemone has already been awarded as one of the most beautiful houses in Grindelwald.
