The Restaurant Aellfluh is one of the most beautiful vantage points in Grindelwald. Although the restaurant is no longer open and in operation, it is still worth every hike. The view of the village of Grindelwald and of the peaks of the Grindelwald mountains such as the Eiger, Wetterhorn and Mättenberg is magnificent.
Location
The Restaurant Aellfluh is located Oberhalt of Grindelwald, directly between Grindelwald Bort and Bussalp. The vantage point is relatively easy to reach and well suited for families with children. Depending on the choice of route, however, the path is sometimes steep, so it’s best to inform yourself before the hike when you spend the night with us at Chalet Anemone near Marianne. Otherwise you can also find out about suitable hiking trails during a walk in Grindelwald Village from Grindelwald Tourism in the Sports Centre. The trails do not necessarily require a lot of fitness, but we still recommend that you take hiking poles with you. In between, the route can be strenuous for the legs and especially the knees.

As mentioned above, the view from the Aellfluh is simply magnificent. The vantage point lies in the middle of the forest, which means you can smell the fresh scent of resin and various woods. The lush green of the trees, grass sprouting out of the ground everywhere, simply wonderful. If you are in the Aellfluh, it is best to sit down somewhere for 15 minutes and simply enjoy the silence. Watch the birds, listen to the chirping of the grasshoppers and, when the weather is fine, watch the snow glisten on the mountain peaks.
Restaurant
The viewpoint used to be a very popular restaurant. However, after some changes of operator and due to the new guidelines from the health department, the reconstruction was no longer worthwhile. The operating costs would simply have been too high in the long run. Moreover, the restaurant was only open in summer and only when the weather was nice.
