13 Jun The Pfingstegg in Grindelwald
The Pfingstegg is one of the most popular vantage points in Grindelwald. Apart from the view, there are various ways to pass the time. Be it with the countless cable cars or on a hike.
Location & Approach
The Pfingstegg is situated at 1’386 m above sea level. From the vantage point you have a view over the whole village of Grindelwald and the surrounding mountains, e.g. the Eiger and Wetterhorn. There is a lot to observe, be it the moving cars on the village road or the moving cable car. The second will probably be more exciting.
The Pfingstegg can be reached without walking only by cable car. You can park directly at the valley station and there is also a bus stop right next to the car park. If you stay with us at Chalet Anemone in Grindelwald, you will have it easy. You only have to walk down the Guggengasse a little and then walk towards the cable car, takes about 10 minutes. And if you still can’t find the cable car, we will be happy to help you.
You can also reach the viewpoint on foot, but it is more for “good” runners. The path can be very steep in parts and can get into your legs.
Activities
There are countless possibilities for a nice afternoon or just a normal hike.
Starting with the two adrenaline activities on the Pfingstegg, the toboggan run and the Fly-Line. From my own experience I can tell you that the toboggan run is great fun. If you make the mistake and go one lap you are immediately convinced. From that moment on you don’t really want to do anything more than go down the whole day. Believe us, that is really the case. The Fly-Line is a new track and also suitable for children. You can ride directly through the forest in a climbing harness and enjoy the view of Grindelwald and the smell of the fir trees.
As an alternative there are countless hiking routes in the region. Whether you are an active or more passive hiker, there is something for everyone. For example, the hike from Pfingstegg to the upper Grindelwald glacier or to Bäregg is recommended. In the Bäregg there is also a small restaurant with possibilities to stay over night.
The best thing is to ask for ideas during your future stay, then we will surely find the best route together!
