Grindelwald First, Top of Adventure. A popular and beautiful excursion destination for young and old. It is not only the beautiful nature and areas that captivate, but also the wonderful view of Grindelwald and the mountains opposite.

Hot facts about the First

The ridge lies at 2184 meters above sea level and is a flattening of the southwest ridge to the Widderfeldgrätli. Mountains became particularly famous through the claim “Top of Adventure” and through the marketing of the Jungfrau Railway. The First is considered a place to be by younger and more relaxed people and is also often preferred by Grindelwalders. Through the Cliff Walk you have a wonderful panoramic view of the mountains, Eiger, Wetterhorn, Grosse Scheidegg, Mettenberg and many more.

A trip on the First can only be recommended and is in our opinion a “must see” on every trip to Grindelwald.

Access

Grindelwald-First is basically only accessible by cable car. Of course there are here and there still some hiking paths that can be used, but these paths are only for the farmers and for the Jungfrau Railway employees. But the normal way to get there is via the First cable car, which departs from the upper village centre or from the Chalet Anemone, if one walks down the Guggengasse (8 min) directly at the first contact with the village road. Adventure

On Grindelwald-First there are various activities that can be done. Unteranderem is the starting point for the First Flieger or various sightseeing flights. The cable car is open all year round and accordingly the flights with paraglider or delta glider are always available. Tip

During the ski season it is recommended to get up early. From 9 o’clock on you have to expect a waiting time of about 30 minutes. It is also advisable to arrive by train if you are not a guest of Chalet Anemone. In winter, when the weather is fine, there are only limited parking spaces available.
