31 Dec Ischboden Hut
Above the upper glacier there is a well-known restaurant, the Ischboden Hut. It is an insider tip, but at the same time a worthwhile destination in Grindelwald. The Beizli is situated at 1400 metres above sea level and offers an exceptional view of Grindelwald and the mountains Eiger, Mettenberg and also Wetterhorn.
Accessibility
The restaurant is located directly next to the Alpine Bird Park and can be reached on foot in about 40 minutes from the Upper Glacier. The Ischboden hut can always be reached on foot. In summer, a bus also runs directly to the Grosse Scheidegg, which also stops at the Ischboden hut. In winter, the hut can also be reached by ski via the Stepfi (no. 23) in good weather conditions.
In summer, the hut is a good stop on a hike. For example, a hiking trail from Bort leads past the Beizli. But even if you walk to the Gleckstein hut, the restaurant is only a few metres away from the entrance to the steep hiking trail.

The hut is a restaurant, but can also be used as a venue for events in Grindelwald. The restaurant offers fine homemade food, such as cakes or delicious soups. For the children, by the way, the adjacent Alpine Bird Park is a good enticement to come along. At the park there are various cages with countless birds that also live in the wild in Grindelwald. Really exciting!
